GOPAX suspends trading and withdrawals after hacking threat
November 6, 2026. South Korean cryptocurrency exchange GOPAX suspended deposits, regular withdrawals and trading after receiving a hacking threat, Yonhap reported, citing the company. GOPAX said it had not verified the threat or reported asset losses.
According to Yonhap, withdrawals stopped at 2:55 p.m. and trading around 3:53 p.m. South Korea time. The company was moving assets from internet-connected wallets to offline storage and canceled outstanding orders. Coinone warned customers transfers to GOPAX might not be credited normally.
Why it matters
A precautionary suspension may protect assets during a security review, but it also prevents customers from trading or withdrawing through normal channels. The duration and scope of the disruption matter to customers relying on access to funds.
Rockstar Briefing analysis
A threat alone does not establish that a theft took place. The next questions are when services resume and what the review finds; company statements should be distinguished from independent verification.
