GlobalFoundries revenue rises 13% as accounting charge drives loss
November 4, 2026. GlobalFoundries reported preliminary third-quarter revenue of $1.899 billion, up 13% year over year. The chipmaker posted a $270 million net loss under IFRS, compared with a $249 million profit a year earlier. Adjusted non-IFRS net income was $298 million.
Why it matters
The company said the loss was primarily driven by a $441 million noncash charge linked to shares issued to the U.S. government. It highlighted demand in communications infrastructure and data centers. It also recalled an October agreement to manufacture silicon interposers for TSMC in the United States, with volume production expected to begin ramping in the first half of 2028.
Rockstar Briefing analysis
Revenue growth and the accounting loss describe different aspects of the quarter. Separating the charge from operating indicators helps assess performance, though adjusted results do not replace IFRS figures. The TSMC project could expand advanced packaging capacity; its eventual contribution depends on execution and demand.
